Prologue

Platform crowded. Clock ticking. Fate impatient.

Avni Mehra runs.

Not gracefully.

Not dramatically.

She runs like time owes her money.

“Excuse me... sorry... move... MOVE...”

Her sneakers hit the platform hard as the train doors begin to slide shut.

She jumps.

Grabs the handle.

Pulls herself in.

She makes it.

Breath ragged, heart pounding, she turns back instantly.

“ABHIMANYUUUUU!” she yells, voice cutting through the chaos.

“RUNNN! Abhi bhi time hai... chalo!”

Across the platform, Abhimanyu Raichand stands near a pillar.

Phone plugged into a charging socket.

Head slightly tilted.

Scrolling.

Like he has all the time in the world.

Avni’s brain short-circuits.

“Are you kidding me?!” she shouts. “Tum abhi CHARGING kar rahe ho?!”

No urgency.

No panic.

He calmly pulls out the charger.

Wraps the wire.

Switches on his phone.

The screen lights up.

He glances at it—unbothered.

That’s it.

Avni jumps down from the train.

Storms toward him.

Grabs his wrist firmly.

“Pagal ho gaye ho tum?!” she snaps. “Phone baad mein bhi charge ho jayega... TRAIN nahi rukti!”

He looks at her hand on his wrist.

Then at her face.

Slowly. Calmly.

Annoyed.

“Relax,” he says coolly. “Itna panic unnecessary hai.”

She stares at him like she might actually push him onto the tracks.

“Unnecessary?!”

The train whistles. Long. Final. Ruthless.

Avni’s grip tightens.

“Bas!” she hisses. “Ab hero banna bandh karo... RUN!”

She pulls.

Hard.

For the first time, Abhimanyu Raichand is dragged.

They run.

Her breath uneven.

His expression darkening.

Their hands locked out of urgency, not choice.

The train started to move.

Too late.

Silence.

The train moves away.

Avni lets go.

Turns to him. Furious. Breathless. Devastated.

“This,” she says quietly, “is why I hate people like you.”

Abhimanyu watches the train disappear, jaw tight, pride bruised.

“And this,” he replies, voice low, “is why I don’t rush for things that aren’t worth it.”

Two souls.

One missed train.

And a collision that was never part of the plan.

Because when fire meets fire…

no one walks away untouched.
